For your everyday toilet clog the best plunger is a funnel cup plunger. You need a good seal between the toilet bowl and the plunger, and with the added piece extending off the rubber cup these plungers are your best bet.
SINK/LAVATORY CLOG
A standard cup plunger is best suited for clearing shallow clogs in sinks, bathtubs, showers and floor drains. The rubber cup is positioned easily around the
drain to create a great seal. An accordion plunger also works well for drains; because of its large size it can drive in a large burst of air while it is plunging 
quickly so that it can unclog better. You need to keep the size of your sink in mind and the plunger you choose should be proportionate to it.
